Public Transport from Faro Airport to Vilamoura

There are no direct public buses from Faro Airport to Vilamoura. To use this means of transport you need to travel to the Faro bus station and from there, get a bus to Vilamoura. Although numerous bus routes connect the Faro Airport to Faro town centre on a daily basis there are fewer bus routes going to Vilamoura (and less on week-ends). 

Opting for the public bus to get to Vilamoura might be the cheapest option but it is also the most inconvenient and time consuming one. Nevertheless, here is how you would go about it.

Faro Airport to Vilamoura - Shared Transfer

A shared transfer is a convenient and inexpensive way for solo travellers or couples to get to Vilamoura, three or more people would be better off taking a private car. Rates start from €9 per person and the journey can take up to 60 minutes as various clients will be dropped off along the way.

Taxi or Uber from Faro Airport to Vilamoura

Faro airport has a taxi rank where you can catch a regular taxi. In Portugal all taxis are metered and have the extra costs (such as luggage etc) displayed on the rear window. Rates vary but the average is about €35 to Vilamoura. Busy hours and high season often mean queues at the taxi rank. 

Uber is also available in the Algarve. For this route Uber is not always your best choice as the rates are often the same or higher than a private transfer. Rates vary with demand and the majority of Uber will only transport a maximum of three persons (Covid restrictions). We suggest using Uber for shorter distances once in Vilamoura.

About Faro Airport

Faro International Airport is located outside the Faro city centre and a 25 minute drive from Vilamoura. Although it is a small airport with only one terminal Faro International processed over 9 million passengers in 2019. During peak season (July and August) the airport handles about 25000 passengers.
