Most of the fun things to do in Vilamoura involve the sun, beach and water. Of course, having the best marina in Portugal, two beautiful beaches and hot long summers means Vilamoura is a prime spot for water sports.

Water sport activities available during the warm seasons in Vilamoura include Jet-Skiing, Parasailing, Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle (SUP), Banana Boats, Speed Boats and much more. These activities usually start from April to end of October, a few operate during low-season.

Parasailing in Vilamoura

Jet Skiing

Jet skiing is one of the most exciting ways to get out on the water. It’s great fun for all ages and abilities, so everyone in your family will love it. You can even take younger kids as passengers (drivers must be at least 18 years old).

No experience is needed as you will be driving in a dedicated circuit just off the Marina. Safety briefing, instructions, insurance, life jackets and fuel is included in price. Jet ski takes 2 adults or 1 adult and 2 kids (younger than 12). Be prepared to get wet on this exciting jet boat thrill ride. An experienced captain will take you on this powerful jet boat that will feel like a roller coaster on the sea.

This scream-fest lasts for 30 minutes while the captain show off all his tricks. Not for the faint hearted or children under 6.

For small groups of up to 7 people this boat is perfect. 

If you plan to visit the Benagil Caves you will require at least two hours. 

Inflatables or Tubing

Inflatables can be a lot of fun. Small groups from 4 to 8 people, depending on the shape of the inflatable, get towed by a speedboat. Rings and banana boats are the most common types of inflatables.

Expect a bumpy ride, lots of screaming and a good time. Suitable for all ages, some restrictions may apply.

Tip: Check number of people in group and duration for each ride before booking.

Kayaking

A kayak tour is a great way to explore the coastline. Join a small group from the Falésia Beach for guided tour of the dramatic red cliffs.

One of the best ways to visit the Benagil Caves is by kayak or stand up paddle. From Vilamoura you would need to drive to Benagil and join the tour there.

SUP (Stand-Up Paddle)

Stand-Up Paddle boarding is becoming an increasingly popular water sports in Portugal.  Not only is it great fun it provides a full body workout.

Beginners will be able to to stand up and start paddling after a very brief instruction. Suitable for all aged swimmers.

A number of tours are available such as Bike and SUP or Benagil Cave SUP. You can join a tour or go solo.

Flyboarding

Flyboarding is one of the most extreme water sports in Vilamoura. An unforgettable experience for thrill seekers.

The flyboard is a water propelled jet pack that allows you to fly in and out of water. A jet ski driven by your instructor will provided the high pressure water via a flexible hose attached to your feet. 

Minimum age for this activity is 12 years old and swimmers only. 

Water Skiing

Water skiing is a popular family activity for tourists in Vilamoura. Ski lessons are available for children as young as six years old, as well as for more seasoned skiers who want to improve their technique.

Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding combines water skiing, snow boarding and surfing techniques. Although it requires some skill, it is easier to learn and you can progress fairly quickly.

The instructors are accredited by the Portuguese Surf Federation and the facility is fully equipped.
