Locations the Jeep Safaris Visit

About Alte

Most inland tours and jeep safaris will take you to Alte, a quaint charming village located 30km north of Vilamoura, about a 35 minute drive. This picturesque village has maintained much of its character and is commonly referred to as the ‘Most Typical Portuguese Village’ in Portugal. The pretty traditional white houses, cobblestone roads, natural spring and surrounding area make Alte a perfect stop for anyone exploring rural Algarve. The Vigário waterfall is a great place for a swim or a picnic and most jeep safaris will stop here.

Public transportation to Alte is not really an option (the only direct bus is from Loulé), you can easily drive there yourself or take a taxi/uber which should cost between €25-€30 one way.

About Paderne

The small hillside village of Paderne is another popular destination for the off road tours in the Algarve. This tranquil village is located a 20-minute (16km) drive from Vilamoura just north of Albufeira.

The hiking trails and Paderne Castle ruins offer some fabulous views over the area. The village also hosts some great events such the Vintage Motorcycle rally or the Medieval Festival.

The Veneza Restaurant in Paderne has also become a tourist attraction, this restaurant is a wine boutique and unique in that they have hundreds of wines on display. The menu is authentic Portuguese and its worth a visit just to see the massive selection if wines.
